You can change the lives of local disabled children and young people. You can help to improve the lives of their parents, carers, siblings, and extended families. You can help to change the way in which society treats disabled people. By supporting Challengers, you can really make a difference.
Most children and young people can easily access essential play and leisure, ride a bike, paint, play on the swings or visit the cinema. Disabled children and young people face a very different world, where there is often nowhere for them to go. Challengers seeks to bridge this gap in provision and provide an exciting, stimulating environment in which disabled children and young people can challenge their impairments, make friends and most importantly have fun! Play and leisure are quite simply essential – these experiences form the irreplaceable framework which we all use to develop the huge range of skills required to reach our full potential.
Challengers is passionate about delivering play and leisure opportunities for any disabled child or young person, regardless of the profoundness of their impairment. Through our full-time centres in Guildford and Farnham and our satellite schemes we ensure that disabled children and young people do have somewhere to go, to enjoy themselves and make friends, whilst offering their families a much needed break.
There is an absolutely huge demand for our services. Sadly we estimate that for every disabled child that uses our services, three more are desperately waiting to access our schemes.
With our annual turn-over now over £2 million we rely on the kindness and generosity of individuals, community groups, business and charitable trusts and grant making foundations to enable us to continue running these vital services.
