South Street Farnham Sainsbury’s raise over £3,000 for Challengers

This January saw the team at Sainsbury’s South Street Farnham present Disability Challengers with a cheque for over £1,800 which they raised through their gala fundraising event in November at the store.  This combined with the money they have raised from previous events throughout the year for Challengers takes them to a fantastic total of over £3,000!  The team at the South Street store selected Disability Challengers as their charity of the year last May and have now surpassed the target they set themselves.  It's been an amazing year with everyone at Sainsbury's South Street pulling together to support Challengers.
 

Mady Hatton from Challengers said ‘It's such a pleasure to work with everyone at Sainsbury's South Street Farnham,  they are so enthusiastic about Challengers and their generosity in terms of donating time and funds has been just amazing!  We are looking forward to putting this donation towards our Farnham play schemes which run during the school holidays at Disability Challengers. School holidays can be a particularly stressful time for parents of disabled children so these schemes are a huge help. The schemes give disabled children a space of their own to have fun, make friends and play whilst also giving parents a chance to catch-up or spend time with other siblings.'
 

Faye from Sainsbury’s South Street Farnham said 'The recent fundraising efforts were from the great generosity from our customers and colleagues. We have really taken fundraising for challengers to another level, where all colleagues contributed to towards the cake stall by making home made cakes, and by donating gifts. We also have a colleague who makes cards where all proceeds were donated, flower arrangements were also made by an experienced colleague. Another colleague made celebratory Halloween cakes which were raffled.

All proceeds from our charity donation box within the store were also donated. I also did a sponsored swimathon in connection with the Farnham Hedgehogs where all sponsorship money is to be donated to challengers. We are thrilled with the amount raised from this event and that we have been able to support such a great local charity over the last year. The team at Sainsbury’s South Street Farnham have really got behind all the events and with the help of our brilliant customers we have managed to raise over £3,000 for the charity!'
