Challengers Guildford receives top marks from Ofsted inspection!

High levels of staff motivation combined with their energy and ability to meet children’s needs are key strengths of Disability Challengers Guildford Play centre, an Ofsted report has found.

They awarded our Guildford Centre the highest possible marks in every category including effectiveness of leadership and management, quality of provision children’s outcomes and overall effectiveness of its early year’s provision.

The report said “Staff demonstrate an excellent understanding of how to promote children’s learning and development and have an extremely patient and supportive approach in helping children achieve their aims. Their positive interaction, significantly contributes to children’s enjoyment and their achievement. There is a great emphasis on children having fun.

“Staff are skilled at knowing when to intervene in children’s play and when to provide support. Consequently children develop their concentration and ability to persist with using resources”

The report, which was released this week, is based upon investigations carried out by Ofsted in April which found Guildford Challengers to be outstanding and that every aspect of its provision was of exceptionally high quality.

Adam Edwards, Director of Fundraising and Communication said: “We are thrilled that our Easter Ofsted inspection at our Guildford Centre has been published, in which we are extremely proud to have achieved an ‘Outstanding’   The team at Challengers are focussed on ensuring a fantastic and exciting play environment for the children. We hope to keep on expanding and providing more essential play opportunities for disabled children until we meet the huge demand for our services. Over the last 30 years Challengers has developed a model of working that last year delivered 25,000 play sessions to 1,200 families, we know that this model is effective so are working with the University of Surrey to prove it. If we can bottle up some of the formula by proving it works then we can encourage similar models to be developed."
