ABOUT US
Challengers is a charity dedicated to transforming the lives of disabled children and young people through the power of play. We provide inclusive, fun, and safe spaces across the South East where children aged 4–18 can make friends, enjoy new experiences, and develop vital life skills. Our unique non-exclusion policy ensures that every child, regardless of the complexity of their needs, is welcomed and supported.
About the role
We believe every child and young person should have the opportunity to have fun, make friends, try new things and be part of their community. By sharing something you love, you could help make that possible.
What could you offer?
We’re open to all sorts of ideas. You might be able to offer:
- Sports or physical activities
- Arts, crafts or creative workshops
- Music, dance or performance
- Outdoor or nature-based activities
- Wellbeing or sensory activities
- Cooking or a Pamper Session
- Or something completely different based on your own skills, interests or expertise

Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for people who are:
- Friendly, enthusiastic and reliable
- Passionate about inclusion and helping others have fun
- Able to share a skill, hobby, interest or activity
- Flexible and willing to adapt activities to different needs
- Comfortable working alongside Challengers staff and volunteers
- Committed to creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment
When and where?
Activities can take place across our services in Surrey, Hampshire, West Sussex and the Boroughs of Kingston and Richmond after school, at weekends or during the school holidays.
We’re happy to explore different ways of working together. You could offer a one-off session, a short programme or an ongoing activity, depending on your availability and what works for our families.
Could you share your passion with Challengers?
If you have a skill, hobby, activity or idea that you think our children and young people would enjoy, we’d love to hear from you!
You don’t necessarily need previous experience of working with disabled children and young people. Our team can work alongside you to help make activities accessible and successful.
Challengers is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS Check and satisfactory references.
We’re reviewing applications on a rolling basis and may start meeting with people early if someone brilliant comes along – so don’t wait too long to apply!
